Governor Alia Dedicates 60th Birthday Proceeds to Internally Displaced Persons in Benue State

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has directed that all proceeds and gifts from his 60th birthday celebration be dedicated to Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) across the state as part of efforts to support vulnerable citizens.

The Governor made the announcement during a thanksgiving mass held at the Chapel of Grace, Government House, Makurdi, which was organised by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Sam Ode, and the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Deborah Aber, to mark his diamond jubilee anniversary.

Governor Alia ordered that all gifts and proceeds from the celebration be coordinated and distributed to IDP camps, noting that displaced persons were in greater need of the support. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Benue and called on citizens to continue praying for his administration.

The Governor further stated that the achievements recorded by his administration were a collective effort of the people of Benue State, while expressing gratitude to God and his mother for their prayers and support over the years. He also appreciated the Deputy Governor and the SSG for organising the thanksgiving service and announced plans to celebrate both his 60th birthday and the 50th anniversary of Benue State in June.

Deputy Governor Sam Ode commended Governor Alia for assembling a credible team to drive his administration’s vision of good governance in the state. In their remarks, officiating priests, Reverend Father Simeon Iber and Reverend Father Paul Tser, described the Governor’s attainment of 60 years as a moment for reflection, wisdom, and renewed dedication to service.

The event featured goodwill messages, prayers, and donations from friends, political associates, and invited guests in honour of the Governor.
