Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, has unveiled the newly built 1,500-capacity NKST Auditorium at Mkar, Gboko, with a pledge to revive the historic NKST Mkar Hospital and return it to its place of pride in healthcare delivery.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Tuesday, Governor Alia described the hospital as a landmark of faith and service in Tivland, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to providing quality, affordable healthcare for all.
The state-of-the-art auditorium, a project of the NKST Church, stands as a symbol of community development and spiritual growth. Its commissioning drew clergy, traditional leaders, and government officials, reflecting broad support for initiatives that blend faith, education, and public welfare.
Governor Alia used the occasion to reiterate his vision for a revitalized healthcare sector in Benue. Once a leading missionary hospital in the region, NKST Mkar Hospital has faced years of decline due to underfunding and infrastructure decay. The governor’s promise to restore its former glory has been welcomed by residents who have long called for urgent intervention.
This event comes amid a series of infrastructure unveilings by the Alia administration, signaling a deliberate push toward tangible development. With healthcare topping the governor’s agenda, the pledge to rehabilitate Mkar Hospital is seen as more than symbolic—it’s a test of political will.
As the red ribbon was cut and applause filled the air, one message echoed clearly: in Benue today, faith and governance are walking hand in hand toward progress. Whether the hospital rises again to its past excellence will be a defining measure of this administration’s legacy.
