The attention of His Excellency Samuel Ortom, the immediate past Governor of Benue State, has been drawn to a misleading poster circulating on social media falsely claiming that he is vying for the 2027 presidential election.

In a strongly worded statement, the former governor’s camp has described the poster as completely false, baseless, and the handiwork of mischief makers bent on spreading confusion and misinformation.
According to the statement issued by Terver Akase, PhD, Media Adviser/Consultant to H.E. Samuel Ortom, Chief Ortom has no ambition whatsoever for the 2027 presidential race. The former governor has consistently and clearly stated that he will not be contesting for any political office in the forthcoming elections.
The public has therefore been advised to disregard the said poster in its entirety, describing it as nothing more than a fabrication designed to mislead unsuspecting citizens and stir unnecessary political speculation.
The clarification comes amid growing political activities ahead of future elections, as political actors and their supporters continue to monitor developments closely.
This development serves as a reminder of the increasing circulation of fake news and fabricated political posters on social media platforms, urging citizens to always verify information from credible sources before sharing.
The statement was released on May 07, 2026.
