In response to the recent surge in theft and robbery cases within the Makurdi metropolis and its environs, the Benue State Youth Leader, Hon. Gbenda Terver, who also serves as the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Executive Governor, His Excellency Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has summoned key youth leaders for an emergency meeting. Scheduled for today, Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at 3:00 PM prompt, the meeting aims to tackle the growing concerns over illegal levies and related security issues.
The meeting, to be held at the Office of Youth Organization and Illegal Levies beside the Basketball Court at Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi, will bring together all Makurdi Area Youth Leaders under the leadership of Comrade Phil Tor, all community youth leaders within the Makurdi metropolis (both registered and non-registered), and all youth leaders at flashpoints and market places. Attendees are urged to be seated before the stipulated time and to attend in person without fail.
This urgent gathering follows a series of incidents that have raised alarm in the state capital, prompting decisive action from Governor Alia’s administration. The focus will be on organizing youth efforts to curb illegal activities and enhance security across the region. All invited participants are expected to contribute to finding sustainable solutions to these pressing challenges.
