A young entrepreneur from Benue State, popularly known as Aboki De Junior (real name Andy), was shot dead on Sunday around the ShopRite area in Sangotedo, Lagos State.
According to reports, the victim was killed by suspected members of the Eiye cult group (ACN) in what appears to have been a case of mistaken identity or retaliation. Sources say the attack followed an earlier incident in which an Eiye cultist known as “Thousand” was allegedly assaulted. Armed men reportedly rode to Aboki De Junior’s shawarma spot and opened fire on him.
Naija Confra and other eyewitness accounts described the deceased as a peaceful, hardworking shawarma seller from Obi Local Government Area of Benue State. He was known for his calm disposition and friendly nature, with no links to cultism. Friends and relatives expressed shock at his death, describing him as someone who welcomed everyone regardless of affiliation.
His body has been deposited at a mortuary in the Ogombo division by the Nigeria Police Force, following intervention by concerned individuals from the Igede community in Lagos.
The tragic incident has sparked outrage among Benue indigenes in Lagos, with many questioning the rising insecurity and cult-related violence in the area. Calls are mounting for security agencies to thoroughly investigate the killing and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Aboki De Junior’s death is another painful reminder of the dangers innocent citizens face amid ongoing cult clashes in parts of Lagos.
