Senior Special Assistant in Benue State, Hon. Terver Gbenda, has issued a strong warning to residents, cautioning against what he described as persistent insults directed at Governor Hyacinth Alia, and urging critics to be prepared to substantiate their allegations.
Gbenda made the remarks amid growing political discourse in the state, stressing that the era of unchecked criticism and verbal attacks on the Governor was over. According to him, individuals who make allegations against the state leadership must be ready to provide evidence to back their claims.
“The time of insulting is over,” Gbenda said. “If you insult the Governor, be ready to explain what you alleged.”
The statement comes at a time when political tensions and public commentary around governance in Benue have remained active, particularly on social media platforms and within local political circles. Gbenda, a known supporter of Governor Alia, has consistently defended the administration’s policies and direction.
He also expressed optimism about the future of the state, congratulating supporters of the administration. “Congratulations to all the Team No Alia, No Benue. Better days are ahead,” he added.
The warning signals a tougher stance from government aides against criticism, as the administration continues to navigate public expectations and political scrutiny.
