Benue Set to Host Nigeria’s First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for Renewed Hope Initiative and Road Commissioning

Benue State is gearing up to receive Nigeria’s First Lady and National Chairman of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, in a visit expected to boost women empowerment and infrastructure development in the state.

The high-profile visit will feature the commissioning of 10 newly completed intra-city roads in Makurdi, spanning a total of 11.5 kilometres. The roads, delivered by the Governor Hyacinth Alia administration, are part of ongoing urban renewal efforts aimed at improving mobility, stimulating economic activities, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.

The roads to be commissioned are:
1. Ishaya Bakut Road (Dual Carriageway)
2. Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 1)
3. Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 2)
4. Off Ishaya Bakut Road (Spur 3)
5. Abu King Shuluwa Road
6. Mama Mbateren Alia Street (Former Keke Napep Road)
7. Dabo Plaza to Fashion Hub Road
8. Sir James Iorpuu Street
9. Tyagher Gbaa Street
10. Jato-Aka Road

Following the Makurdi ceremony, Senator Tinubu will proceed to Ijugh for the commissioning and handover of the Community ICT Centre.

Governor Hyacinth Alia has expressed delight at the forthcoming visit, describing it as a positive step in federal-state collaboration to improve the lives of citizens, especially women and families. The Benue State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Initiative, Mrs. Scholastica Bensor, confirmed that all preparations have been concluded and called on women, community leaders, and residents to turn out in large numbers to welcome the First Lady.
