Benue Architect Ocheochi Slams Abounu Over Third-Term Bid, Accuses Inconsistency in Zoning Debate

Former Benue State Deputy Governor Benson Abounu has come under fire from Architect Abonu Ocheochi, who has questioned the consistency of his opposition to Senator Abba Moro’s third-term bid in the Senate.

Ocheochi argued that Abounu’s concerns about zoning and tenure should also be examined against the long political history of Benue South and the positions taken by stakeholders during previous election cycles.

He drew sharp comparisons with former Senate President David Mark, who served the district for nearly 20 years before his retirement, asking: “Where was Benson Abounu during the 20 years David Mark spent in the Senate?”

Ocheochi suggested that the current agitation over zoning must be placed in proper historical context, emphasising that any debate on tenure and representation should consider the years of experience and political continuity already demonstrated by key figures in the district.

Ocheochi, a prominent architect and political figure in the state, has thrown his support behind Senator Abba Moro’s ambition to return to the Senate for a third term, challenging Abounu’s description of the bid as “evil”.
