Benue Chief Press Tersoo Kula Secretary Slams Wike, Calls Out Lying on Subvention Funds and Declares His Own Resistance

Benue State Chief Press Secretary Sir Tersoo Kula has not minced words in his latest public outburst, accusing former Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike of blatant lies regarding monthly subvention to Benue State during the administration of late Governor Samuel Ortom.

In a long Facebook post, Kula described the misinformation campaign as a reinforcement of falsehoods that has become Benue’s greatest tragedy. He took particular aim at supposed educated young people who, in his view, have grown so shallow in reasoning that they now rely on quick cyber searches to comment on issues affecting their daily lives, treating such superficial analysis as a “strange” and uphill task for them.

Kula went further, highlighting what he called “the thick lie” that Benue State receives “25 to 35 billion naira monthly” from the federation account. He noted that figures of what comes to Benue from the federation are not hidden; they are publicly available on the websites of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation, and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), the National Bureau of Statistics, and the Budget and Planning of the Benue State government. He invited any serious citizen to verify the amounts received under previous administrations — by Dr. Emmanuel Akume, Mr. Gabriel Suswam, Governor Ortom, and now under Governor Hyacinth Alia.

The Chief Press Secretary said he was initially moved to respond to Wike but has instead chosen to lament the state’s misfortune: the shallowness of its young people and the ease with which their conscience can be “bought” to promote disgruntled elements. He portrayed these young people as shameless promoters of intentional fabrications being used to weaponize hatred.

Kula concluded with a piercing question: “Where is the future for our state??”

The post, which went viral in political circles across Benue, has reignited debates about political accountability, misinformation, and the state’s development challenges. Kula, who has been a prominent voice in supporting Governor Alia’s administration, once again positioned himself as a defender of transparency and a critic of external interference in Benue affairs.
