War of Words Intensifies as Ortom Vows to Expose Governor Alia, Alia Hits Back Over Debt

The political tension in Benue State has escalated into a fierce war of words between former Governor Chief Samuel Ortom and the current Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia.

In strong remarks, Ortom accused Governor Alia of hypocrisy and looting the state’s coffers. He declared his intention to begin exposing what he described as the administration’s hypocrisy, outright looting of state resources, evils committed against the people of the state, and the alleged ceding of ancestral lands to foreigners.

“You left behind billions in debt,” Governor Alia fired back at his predecessor.

The exchange has dominated local headlines, with the latest edition of *Idoma Voice* carrying the front-page headline “I will expose Governor Alia,” quoting Ortom as opening a “can of worms” on the Benue government. Ortom reportedly described the governor as a hypocrite while reiterating his resolve to reveal more details.
