Arrival of Herders from Zamfara Sparks Apprehension in Agyaragu, Nasarawa State

Residents of Agyaragu in Nasarawa State have expressed concern over the arrival of a large number of herders, believed to have migrated from Zamfara State. According to a report by Comrade Joseph Apahar Joo, Media and Publicity Officer of the IDP in Benue State, two fully loaded trucks of herders arrived and settled at a Tiv settlement near the Living Faith Church, rather than the designated motor park, raising suspicions among locals.

The presence of bags containing corn flour with undisclosed contents has further heightened concerns. Investigations indicate that the herders are heading towards Agwan Yaara and Gidan Rai, areas located at the borders of Benue and Nasarawa States.

The development has generated significant apprehension, especially as it coincides with the current farming season. Community members are being advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their farmlands. Residents in affected areas have been urged to farm in close proximity to one another to prevent herders from penetrating through their crops.

Comrade Joseph Apahar Joo called on the public to spread the information to all security agencies in Benue State for necessary action and monitoring.
