The Benue State ALGON Media Team has strongly condemned what it described as a desperate blackmail and smear campaign launched by Haakyav Peter (also known as Ordubu Deli), Tofi S. Ternenge, and their associates against the leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Benue State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, in Makurdi, the team dismissed the allegations as reckless, fact-free, and orchestrated solely to extort personal favours and distract from the focus of governance. The media team emphasized that the Office of the Benue ALGON Chairman is not a marketplace for personal extortion.
The statement specifically defended Rt. Hon. Vitalis Terhile Neji, Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council and Chairman of ALGON Benue State, describing the critics as itinerant blackmailers disguising illegal demands for private benefits as legitimate criticism. It clarified that the ALGON Lodge is an official government facility for administrative and council activities, and not a charity or centre for personal withdrawals.
The ALGON Media Team further noted that the attacks represent a calculated attempt to undermine the integrity of the Governor of Benue State and the collective leadership of all 23 Local Government Chairmen in the state. They warned that such actions constitute an affront to democratic institutions and governance.
While urging citizens to channel concerns through proper channels, the team called on Haakyav Peter and Tofi S. Ternenge to immediately retract their baseless statements and redirect their energies toward productive contributions to peace and development in Benue State. They warned that failure to do so may attract public condemnation and legal consequences for defamatory conduct.
The ALGON Media Team reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and service-oriented governance, vowing zero tolerance for malicious slander, misinformation, and blackmail.
