Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council and a frontline 2027 governorship aspirant in Benue State, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment and loyalty of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ushongo Local Government Area—and by extension the entire state—to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator George Akume, the APC leader in Benue and the North Central region.
Speaking during the APC Local Government Congress held in Lessel, Ushongo LGA, on Saturday, February 21, 2026, Dr. Akutah emphasized that the people of Ushongo remain firmly aligned with President Tinubu’s reform agenda for national repositioning and development. He highlighted the strategic partnership between Benue State and Senator Akume, describing it as key to delivering overwhelming votes for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The congress, conducted under the directive of the APC National Executive Committee led by Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, peacefully affirmed the existing local government executive committee headed by Hon. Ushahhemba Tyavkase. Party officials described the process as smooth, transparent, and devoid of any disputes.
In his remarks, former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Chief Kaase Aondoaakaa (SAN), declared that illustrious sons of Ushongo stand solidly behind the APC leadership of Senator Akume and are fully prepared to deliver massive support for President Tinubu in 2027.
APC Caucus Leader in Ushongo, Elder Joseph Ormyie Mayange, alongside Mrs. Kenita Ikyegh and former Ushongo APC Chairman Hon. Abraham Sor, commended party members for the peaceful conduct of the congress. Elder Mayange particularly praised Dr. Akutah for his consistent support of the APC in Ushongo and Benue State, urging him to remain focused and assuring him of the unwavering backing of the Ushongo people for his governorship ambition.
Hon. Abraham Sor disclosed that attempts by some sponsored individuals to disrupt preparations for the ward congresses were effectively contained through the vigilance of party members and security personnel. He reaffirmed the unity of Ushongo APC in supporting Dr. Akutah’s governorship aspiration, President Tinubu’s re-election, and Senator Akume’s leadership.
In his acceptance speech, Hon. Tyavkase pledged to uphold fairness, equity, and unwavering loyalty to Senator Akume’s exemplary leadership while strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
The successful affirmation of executives in Ushongo signals continued cohesion within the APC structure in Benue ahead of the 2027 elections, with key stakeholders emphasizing unity, discipline, and massive mobilization behind the party’s national and state leadership.
