A fresh wave of controversy has erupted in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State as social media activist Ngbede David Ogbole released a video in which he claims to expose details of ongoing land sales in the area.

In the video, which is currently circulating widely on Facebook, Ogbole points accusing fingers at certain individuals involved in what he describes as questionable land transactions. He reportedly mentioned the name of a company allegedly buying large portions of land, the identity of a key man facilitating the deals, and even the person’s state of origin.

The activist urged the public not to take the information lightly, calling on viewers to share the video massively so that it reaches a wider audience and sparks necessary attention from relevant authorities and the community.

This latest revelation comes against the backdrop of long-standing tensions in Agatu, a region that has repeatedly faced farmer-herder clashes, displacement of residents, and accusations of land grabbing. In recent months, displaced communities in Agatu West have publicly rejected attempts to allocate ancestral farmlands to mining interests without broad consultation, while older disputes involving alleged secret ceding of land to herders continue to generate heat.

Ngbede David Ogbole, who has been vocal on local issues affecting the Idoma people, appears to be amplifying concerns that powerful interests may be undermining communal land rights in the area.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Agatu Local Government, the Benue State Government, or the named parties in the video. Community reactions on social media have been mixed, with many residents echoing the “Agatu is not for sale” sentiment and demanding transparency and accountability from traditional rulers and political leaders.

Land matters in Benue, particularly in Agatu, remain highly sensitive due to the region’s history of violent conflicts often linked to control over fertile farmlands. Stakeholders have consistently called for due process, community consent, and proper documentation in any land-related dealings to prevent further escalation of insecurity and distrust.

The public is advised to verify information from credible sources as more details emerge on this developing story.
