The Benue State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), has distributed dignity kits to survivors of the recent Otukpo-Nobi attack who are currently receiving treatment at the College of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo.
The intervention, which took place on Saturday, was led by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Mrs. Theresa Odachi Ikwue.
Mrs. Ikwue described the donation as part of a broader humanitarian response designed to restore dignity and provide essential personal care materials to victims of the attack while they recuperate. She noted that the gesture reflects the government’s determination to ensure that victims of emergencies receive both medical attention and humanitarian care.
The Commissioner lauded UNFPA for its steadfast support to Benue State in promoting the health, dignity, and well-being of women, girls, and other vulnerable groups, particularly during humanitarian crises. She also commended the management and healthcare personnel of the College of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo, for their professionalism and dedication in attending to the injured victims.
The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, saying the dignity kits would help ease their challenges during treatment.
