The Management of Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, has appointed Mrs. Regina Akpede Abagu as Acting Head of the Therapeutic Centre for Children with Special Needs.

At the handover ceremony, Director of Administration, Cynthia Orjime, urged staff to support Mrs. Abagu’s leadership for the continued growth of the centre. Mrs. Abagu thanked the BSUTH management for the confidence reposed in her and pledged purposeful leadership. She also commended Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, and Chief Medical Director, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, for establishing the centre, which she described as the first of its kind in Nigeria.
Mrs. Regina Akpede Abagu brings over three decades of experience as an educational administrator and public servant. A native of Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, she holds multiple qualifications including a Master of Education in Special Education (Hearing Impairment) from the University of Jos.
Her extensive career in the Benue State Civil Service includes roles as classroom teacher, teacher for children with hearing and visual impairments, form teacher, Acting Principal, and Acting Director of the Department of Special and Primary Education in the Benue State Ministry of Education. She is widely respected for her dedication to inclusive education and the welfare of children with special needs.
