Governor Alia’s Promise Fulfilled as BSUTH Receives Two High-Capacity Generators

The Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH), Makurdi, has received two high-capacity standby generators approved by Governor Hyacinth Alia to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the Radiology Department’s newly acquired diagnostic equipment.

The generators, manufactured in England in February 2026 with a capacity of 550KVA each, were delivered on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, by the Managing Director of United International Technology (Nig) Limited, Mr. Wansa Mohammed. Installation is expected to be completed within 48 hours.

One generator can power the entire hospital, while the second will serve as a reliable backup during power interruptions.

The delivery fulfils Governor Alia’s pledge made during his inspection visit to the hospital’s Radiology Department on January 22, 2026, where he assessed the 64-slice CT scan machine, fluoroscopy machine, ultrasound equipment, and refurbished MRI machine.

The Chief Medical Director of BSUTH, Dr. Stephen Terungwa Hwande, described the development as another milestone in strengthening healthcare services in the state.
