The Benue State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has strongly dismissed recent claims made by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing them as misleading and reflective of a party still struggling for relevance in the state.

In a press statement issued on Monday, June 15, 2026, the APC accused the ADC of issuing uninformed commentary on governance matters while failing to address its own internal crises. The party defended the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, stating that it inherited a state burdened by infrastructural decay, institutional weakness, and economic stagnation but has chosen the path of reform, reconstruction, and responsible governance.

The APC highlighted ongoing infrastructure renewal programmes, including extensive road construction and rehabilitation across urban and rural areas. It noted that in Makurdi alone, major road networks are being upgraded, with over fifty road projects spanning more than 500 kilometres currently underway or nearing completion across the state. The party described the ADC’s focus on only 11 kilometres of road commissioning as both uninformed and dishonest.

Beyond infrastructure, the statement emphasised achievements in public service reforms, workers’ welfare, healthcare delivery, education, agricultural development, digital innovation, and youth empowerment. On security, the administration is collaborating with federal and local agencies to strengthen peacebuilding efforts, resulting in relative peace across the state.

The APC criticised the ADC’s statement for its tone of deliberate exaggeration and political opportunism, advising the opposition party to focus on building internal cohesion rather than launching attacks on a performing administration. It urged the ADC to desist from emotionally driven statements that distract from governance.
