Residents and motorists along the Sankera-Chito-Vaase Road in Benue State are expressing deep frustration as the road continues to deteriorate two years after the contract for its construction was announced.
A post by social commentator Òr Turan highlighted the poor condition of the road, noting that despite the awarded contract, commuters are still forced to push vehicles through thick mud. Prominent individuals including Aondohemba Angenyi and Comr Atsua Terkuma Samuel were referenced as being among those affected by the deplorable state of the infrastructure.
Photos circulating on social media show several cars, including SUVs and sedans, heavily stuck in muddy sections of the road, with groups of people physically pushing them to get them moving. The images depict the challenging daily reality faced by residents in the area.
The situation has sparked questions and criticism from members of the public, with many wondering why significant progress is yet to be recorded on the project despite the passage of time.
This latest incident adds to ongoing complaints about abandoned or slow-moving road projects across parts of the state, leaving citizens to bear the brunt of poor infrastructure.
To say the fact, the contract is moving too slow, and people are suffering on daily basis. The Government should call the attention of the Contractor in other to move the project fast.
Despite the vehicles they are using for the construction are not many.
