Residents and members of the Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Makurdi (JOSTUM) community have expressed deep frustration over the deplorable state of the SRS Junction to JOSTUM Road, which has become virtually impassable following a light rain.
According to a widely shared post by Or Turan, the ongoing road project, which commenced in October last year under the B-RAAMP initiative, appears to have been abandoned, leaving large sections of the road flooded, eroded, and covered in mud. The situation has completely cut off students and staff of the university from accessing the campus, workplaces, and the town.
Critics are questioning the Chairman of B-RAAMP, Elijah Tule, on why the project was initiated if funds were insufficient to execute it properly, and why it has been left in such a poor condition despite not even reaching the peak of the rainy season.
The development has sparked calls for urgent intervention to rescue the road project and ease the hardship currently being faced by the university community and other road users in the area.
