A political controversy has erupted in Benue State as Asom D Jerry publicly rebutted claims made by Hon. Spinner Audu Fidelis Oryina, describing them as misleading and aimed at inciting unnecessary division among political leaders.
In a strongly worded response, Jerry questioned Hon. Spinner’s assertion of having given “100% loyalty” to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, arguing that loyalty is demonstrated through consistency and discipline over time, not merely proclaimed. According to Jerry, Hon. Spinner’s political history reflects inconsistency rather than genuine commitment, undermining the credibility of his recent accusations.
Jerry further reminded the public of Senator Akume’s personal intervention during Hon. Spinner’s serious health crisis, when he suffered from prostate cancer and arthritis that left him unable to walk. He stated that the SGF personally facilitated Hon. Spinner’s medical care abroad, ensuring his recovery, despite concerns over his wavering loyalty and political unpredictability. For Hon. Spinner to now accuse the same leader of betrayal, Jerry argued, raises serious questions about his sincerity.
Additionally, Jerry dismissed the claim that former Governor Samuel Ortom rewards loyalty more than Senator Akume, noting that Ortom himself is widely regarded as one of the greatest beneficiaries of Akume’s political goodwill over the years. Jerry concluded that Hon. Spinner’s comments appear less like a call for justice and more like an attempt to reposition himself within a new political alignment by discrediting others, urging him instead to reflect on his own actions and political consistency.
