Guma LG Chairman, Hon. Orwough Maurice Commends Security Agencies for Sustaining Peace in the Area

The Executive Chairman of Guma Local Government Council, Hon. Orwough Maurice, has commended security operatives for their relentless efforts in maintaining peace and security across Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

Hon. Orwough expressed appreciation for the work being carried out by various agencies, including Operation Whirl Stroke, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Nigeria Police, and community security groups. He noted that their dedication is crucial in creating a safe environment that allows farmers to return to their farmlands without fear.

The Chairman highlighted recent operations along the Tyulen-Agosha axis, which resulted in the arrest of several suspects found in unlawful possession of firearms and other illegal weapons. He stated that the arrested individuals would be prosecuted according to the law.

While appreciating the security agencies, Hon. Orwough reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing necessary support and logistics to all security operatives working in the local government. He assured residents that with continued collaboration, people would be able to return to their farms during the upcoming farming season without fear of attacks.

The commendation comes as part of ongoing efforts to restore normalcy and boost agricultural activities in Guma, one of the food basket areas of Benue State that has faced security challenges in recent years.
