Franc Utoo, on behalf of Equipping The Persecuted, has invited the public to the unveiling of the Yelewata Genocide Memorial Monument and the one-year remembrance thanksgiving service in honour of those killed in the Yelewata massacre of June 13–14, 2025.
The solemn event is scheduled for this Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Memorial Monument in Yelewata, marking the first anniversary of the tragic incident.
As part of the commemoration, the Bishop of the Makurdi Catholic Diocese, His Lordship Wilfred Anagbe, will lead a team of Bishops, Priests, and Pastors in celebrating the Mass/service.
The monument was built and donated by Equipping The Persecuted to honour the victims and preserve the memory of the lives lost.
In his invitation, Franc Utoo, Esq. KofC, Facilitator of the Yelewata Genocide Memorial Monument, stated: “As we mark one year since that tragic loss, we will gather to remember the lives of our people, honor their memory, and thank God for His sustaining grace.”
He expressed deep appreciation for the anticipated presence of attendees at this meaningful occasion of remembrance, thanksgiving, and hope.
The event has also drawn solidarity messages, with calls for pictures, videos, and write-ups under the hashtag #rebuildyelewata as communities prepare to stand in remembrance of the victims.
