In a lengthy and emotional Facebook post, Ukan Kurugh, a prominent voice in Benue State, has publicly declared that he has officially given up on his efforts to secure a meeting with Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia.
Kurugh revealed that after numerous attempts through calls, messages, contacts, and every possible channel available to him, he has been unable to gain access to the governor. Expressing deep disappointment, he stated that his persistent efforts have been met with repeated disappointments and “silent walls.”
“My heart is heavy,” Kurugh wrote, “not because I seek personal gain, but because there are so many painful realities, wrongs, cries, and struggles around us that need urgent attention and should be brought directly to the Governor’s table.”
He described himself as a “loyal son of Benue” who had hoped to be heard while carrying the burdens and concerns of the people, particularly the weak, voiceless, sick, hungry, and downtrodden. Despite the setbacks, Kurugh emphasized that he holds no bitterness in his heart.
In the post, he announced his decision to return to his regular work and continue serving his community until “the appointed time.” He stressed that true leadership is not only about holding offices and titles, but also about standing with those who have no one to speak for them.
Kurugh concluded the statement on a spiritual note, affirming his commitment to serve humanity with the little strength and grace given to him, while praying that God will one day create the opportunity for the cries of the common people to be heard.
“So help me God!!!” he ended.
