Tor Jechira Ujege Appointed Vice Chairman of Bishop Usuh University Governing Council

The Catholic Diocese of Gboko has appointed the Tor Jechira and Chairman of the Jechira Intermediate Area Traditional Council, HRH Chief Engr. Edward Ujege, MFR, FNSE, as Vice Chairman of the Governing Council of Bishop Usuh University, Vandeikya.

The appointment was conveyed to the traditional ruler on Friday by the Vicar General of the Catholic Diocese of Gboko, Rev. Fr. Linus Huabo, on behalf of the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Rev. William Avenya.

According to a statement issued by Comr. Stephen Suega Tseagu, Chief Press and Private Secretary to the Tor Jechira, Rev. Fr. Huabo expressed confidence in Ujege’s capacity to provide quality leadership and contribute to taking the university to greater heights. He said the appointment was informed by the monarch’s antecedents and track record of achievements across various fields of human endeavour, as well as his position as a ranking traditional ruler in whose domain the university is situated.

In his response, Ujege expressed profound gratitude to Bishop Avenya and the Catholic Diocese of Gboko for finding him worthy of the appointment. The former President General of Mdzough U Tiv Worldwide described the appointment as a significant honour to the Jechira people and pledged to work closely with the university management, the Governing Council and other stakeholders towards the rapid development of the institution.

He said the university’s growth would not only benefit the Jechira people but also contribute to the advancement of tertiary education and human capital development across Tivland and Benue State.

The ceremony was witnessed by other members of the traditional council, including HRH Chief Niyongo Achiaku, Ter Kunav; HRH Chief Emmanuel Akpoghol, Ag Ter Ikyor; HRH Sir Augustine Aule Mue, Ter Kyan; and HRH Chief Moses Asongo Adema Mue, Ter Tiev.

Tseagu noted that the appointment underscores the confidence reposed in the Jechira monarch’s leadership experience and capacity to contribute to institutional development.
