Fresh controversy has erupted among Tiv communities in Nasarawa State after the Osana of Keana Local Government Area issued a strong warning to the Tor Tiv against interfering in Tiv traditional affairs within the state.
In a viral video that has sparked widespread reactions, the Osana insisted that Tiv people in Keana must be allowed to handle their own leadership and cultural matters without external influence, warning that such interference could create division and unrest.
The traditional ruler argued that while many ethnic groups from Nasarawa live peacefully in Benue State, no one crosses boundaries to impose or select rulers for them. He rejected the activities of Mzough U Tiv in Nasarawa State, declaring that any attempt to enforce such actions, particularly in Keana, would face stiff resistance.
The Osana also cautioned against the misuse of Tiv traditional beads, alleging that the practice is fueling tension within Tiv communities.
The remarks have since triggered heated debates and mixed reactions among Tiv stakeholders and residents across Nasarawa State.
