Suspected Child Trafficker Arrested in Kwande, Benue

A man identified as Aôndowase Akpenkaan Bebeshi has been linked to child trafficking activities in Benue State, according to a Facebook update by activist Zege’Orkwande Sughnen Yaaya.

Bebeshi, an indigene of Mbakutem in Yaav District of Turan, Kwande Local Government Area, is suspected of specialising in moving children from Turan communities to other states and countries.

One alleged case involves Demesugh Terfa Maya, the son of a younger brother to Dr Gbashahwange Maya. The boy, who was in JSS One at Holy Family Catholic Secondary School in Jato Aka, was reportedly sold to a woman in Benin.

The activist further stated that Bebeshi confessed to trafficking some children earlier in 2024. He is currently in the custody of the Benue State Police Command at the Jato Aka Division.
