On the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary, the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) has reaffirmed its dedication to enhancing education across the state. Dr. Grace Adagba, Executive Chairman of SUBEB, congratulated Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Alia, Deputy Governor Barrister Sam Ode, the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Alfred Emberga Berger, and the State Executive Council, highlighting the transformative impact of their leadership.
SUBEB praised the administration’s efforts in bringing democratic dividends closer to the people, notably through the recruitment of over 9,000 teachers via a transparent and unbiased process. The posting of these newly recruited teachers has significantly boosted enrollment in basic education schools. Additionally, the board has equipped classrooms with digital and non-digital libraries, distributed instructional materials including smart and white boards, and revived sports learning and basic school games.
Other milestones include the transformation of the Board Headquarters with a new office complex for the Executive Chairman, renovation of seven office blocks, landscaping, and the establishment of a Digital Resource Centre. SUBEB has also ensured solar power supply, prompt payment of newly recruited teachers, provision of a borehole, WiFi, refurbishment, and furnishing of the Fr. Alia Multi-purpose Hall.
Dr. Adagba expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support for the growth and development of Benue State and Nigeria at large. She also acknowledged the governor’s three-year matching grant, which has enabled unprecedented improvements in public school infrastructure, including massive classroom renovations, school furniture, water provision, and the construction of storey buildings and libraries.
The board pledged unflinching support to the administration, citing achievements such as the implementation of a N75,000 minimum wage, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, extensive capacity-building trainings for teachers and staff, revival of nursery sections, and advocacy to reduce out-of-school children. SUBEB remains committed to repositioning schools to deliver quality basic education to every Benue child.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria! Long live Benue State!
