The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, has presented relief materials to the people of Akpa-Mbakor in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State following a communal clash.
Sen. Akume expressed dissatisfaction over the clash between the Akpa community in Tarka Local Government and youths from Guma Local Government, noting that no development can take place in an atmosphere of chaos. He also spoke on the long-standing ancestral relationship between the communities and urged them to remain in harmony.
The presentation was made on his behalf by elder statesman Simon Shango. The relief items include 200 bags of rice, 200 bags of beans, mattresses and cooking materials. The materials will be handled by the pastor in charge of NKST Asukunya, with a committee to be drawn from the affected kindreds for onward distribution.
