In a significant move to address persistent mobility challenges on campus, the Student Union (SU) President of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University, Comr. Celestine Aondongu Tornyor, hosted a delegation from the Real Shimas Charity Foundation on Thursday. The meeting aimed to tackle ongoing transportation issues faced by students and staff, proposing a practical solution to enhance campus accessibility.
The delegation included key representatives from the Foundation, such as Hon. Nick Oradi (Head of Logistics) and Hon. Jay Ian Oms (State Logistics Manager). They were accompanied by Prof. Ochugudu Ipueele and Comr. Aondosoo Terseer, underscoring the collaborative effort behind the initiative.
During the engagement, the Real Shimas Charity Foundation unveiled plans to introduce subsidized shuttle bus services for students and staff. This initiative is designed to alleviate transportation difficulties within the campus, with the Foundation expressing a strong commitment to making student mobility more affordable and reliable.
The proposal received a warm welcome from the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. Ejembi, and garnered support from union leaders, including Comr. Victor Okita Igbudu, Comr. Iorlumen Ephraim, Comr. Abeda Jostum Welfare, and Comr. Nyitse Sugnhen, among other critical stakeholders. All expressed appreciation for the proposed solution, highlighting its potential to transform campus life.
A formal resolution is anticipated, which could see the commencement of shuttle operations as early as the next session. This development marks a promising step toward addressing a long-standing concern, fostering a more connected and accessible university environment.
