A well-known provision store owner and businessman in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State, Agi John Ode, popularly called Ode Obusa from Ainu Obusa in Igbede, has died following a sudden medical emergency.
According to family accounts, the deceased had attended to his business at his provision store and beer outlet on Saturday. He closed for the day without assistance and returned home around 10pm before collapsing shortly afterwards.
His wife quickly alerted neighbours, and he was rushed first to the General Hospital in the area. Due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to the General Hospital in Otukpo, where medical personnel placed him on oxygen support as he struggled to breathe. Despite efforts to stabilise him, Ode Obusa was confirmed dead around 11pm on the same night.
The sudden nature of his collapse has sparked concerns and suspicions within sections of the community, with some family members and associates questioning the circumstances surrounding his death. However, no official medical confirmation has been released regarding the exact cause of death as of the time of this report. Medical officials are yet to issue a detailed statement on the incident.
Ode Obusa was a prominent figure in the Oju and Igbede business community, widely recognised for his provision store and beer distribution activities. His death has left many in the area saddened, as he was known for his active involvement in local commerce.
The family is currently making arrangements for his burial, while the community continues to mourn the sudden loss of the popular businessman.
