Police Arrest 80-Year-Old, Seven Others Over Killing of Benue MACBAN Chairman

The Benue State Police Command has arrested seven additional suspects, including an 80-year-old man, in connection with the murder of the Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) in Benue State, Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, and Yakubu Isa.

The two men were murdered on July 1 while returning from a security meeting organised by the Divisional Police Officer in Ohimini Local Government Area.

According to the police, the latest arrests followed sustained intelligence gathering, detailed investigations, and coordinated tactical operations.

The newly arrested suspects are:

– Chief Morgan Ejaga (43)
– Chief Moses Antevi (45)
– Chief John Ogli (58)
– Chief Yawuhu Adaji (49)
– Sylvester Ajonye (80)
– Aba Alexander Uloko (59)
– Fidelis Iduma (45)

This brings the total number of arrests in the case to 17, following the earlier arrest of 10 suspects.

The Benue State Commissioner of Police, CP Cletus Nwadiogbu, praised the officers involved in the investigation for their professionalism. He assured residents that the investigation is still ongoing and stressed that anyone found to have played any role in the killings would be brought to justice.

The Command also urged members of the public to remain calm and continue providing credible information that could help security agencies conclude the investigation.
