A suspected phone thief is being hunted in Makurdi, Benue State capital, after he allegedly stole a smartphone from a lady’s shop on Monday.
The incident was made public by Joy Simon, who posted clear images of the suspect on her verified Facebook page. According to her account, the man entered her shop in Makurdi and stole her phone just over an hour before the post was made. She noted that he attempted to hide his face from the shop’s camera, but the device still captured him clearly.
Ukan Kurugh, while sharing the post, wrote: “This guy came to a lady’s shop in Makurdi and stole her phone, please if you recognize the face reach out to Joy Simon on the post below.”
In her appeal, Joy Simon wrote: “This is the clearer view of his face! He was trying to hide from the camera but it still captured him. HE JUST STOLE A PHONE FROM MY MAKURDI SHOP an hour ago. PLEASE IF YOU KNOW THIS MAN HELP US FIND HIM. LETS KEEP SHARING!!”
The two photographs shared show a middle-aged man in a white and blue patterned shirt, captured both seated and in motion inside what appears to be the shop.
As of the time of this report, there is no confirmation of police involvement or an official statement from authorities. Members of the public who recognize the suspect have been urged to contact Joy Simon directly or share the post to aid in his identification and arrest.
