PDP Senatorial Aspirant Thomas Tyolumun Unongo Seeks Jechira Traditional Council’s Blessing for Zone A Seat

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 2027 senatorial flagbearer for Benue North-East (Zone A), Thomas Tyolumun Unongo, has formally sought the blessings and support of the Jechira Traditional Council for his ambition to represent the zone in the Senate.

Unongo, who made the declaration on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at the palace of the Tor Jechira in Vandeikya Local Government Area, emphasized that his aspiration is driven by competence, integrity, and a desire to deliver purposeful representation rather than mere zoning considerations.

The aspirant recounted his political mentorship under the late Chief Wantaregh Paul Unongo and Senator Bukola Saraki, pledging to provide accessible and development-focused leadership if elected.

Rt. Hon. Dominic Ucha, Director General of the Thomas Unongo Campaign Team, introduced him as a capable young leader with the experience and network to attract development. Traditional leaders, including the Tor Jechira, His Royal Highness Chief Engr. Edward Ujege, and elders from Vandeikya and Konshisha, received him warmly and prayed for his success.

The well-attended meeting, which included prominent elders and stakeholders from several local government areas, highlighted Unongo’s commitment to consulting widely and respecting traditional institutions.
