In a significant development for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has approved the extension of the seven-man caretaker committee currently managing the state’s chapter. Dr. Benjamin Omale continues in his role as Chairman of the committee, a position he has held amid ongoing efforts to stabilize the party following previous internal disputes.
The announcement was highlighted in a recent Facebook post by Ahoho Terungwa, a media aide aligned with the state government, who described it as breaking news and extended congratulations to Dr. Omale, referring to him as the “Masses Chairman.” The post underscores the continued leadership of the caretaker structure, which has been in place since its inauguration in 2024 and received prior extensions earlier in 2025.
This decision aligns with broader party measures to maintain continuity in state executives nationwide. The caretaker committee, initially set up to foster unity and reconciliation, has overseen key activities including local government elections and recent mass defections from opposition parties into the APC fold across various local government areas in Benue.
Supporters view the retention of Dr. Omale as a vote of confidence in the committee’s work under Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration, emphasizing achievements in party growth and grassroots mobilization. As of December 19, 2025, the extension reinforces the current leadership’s mandate to steer the Benue APC toward greater cohesion ahead of future electoral cycles.
