The Senate Minority Leader and Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District, Comrade Abba Moro, PhD, on Friday received the endorsement of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) Integrity Group, Zone C, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to an official statement by Mr. Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Media Adviser to the Senator, the endorsement was announced during a courtesy visit by the group to the senator at the National Assembly in Abuja.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, the Zonal Coordinator, Hon. Yakubu Audu Romeo, said the decision followed an assessment of Senator Moro’s record, experience and contributions to the development of Benue South. Romeo stated that although members of the group remain in the NDC, they resolved to support Moro in the broader interest of the zone, describing him as the most capable hand to sustain Zone C’s voice at the national level.
“We are your foot soldiers. Send us, and we will go and deliver,” he said, pledging to mobilise grassroots support for the senator’s re-election.
Also speaking, the State Coordinator of the group, Comrade Emmanuel Orih (Oriented), said Benue South could not afford retrogressive representation, noting that the zone’s minority status in Benue State demands experienced leadership in the National Assembly. Orih, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Enone Federal Constituency, commended Senator Abba Moro’s legislative initiatives, particularly his advocacy for power rotation.
In his response, Senator Moro thanked the group for the confidence reposed in him, stressing the importance of political alliances in shaping governance outcomes. He lamented what he described as the neglect of Benue South by the Benue State Government, insisting the zone would reject second-class treatment.
Moro urged the delegation to mobilise their communities around the collective interest of the people, assuring them of his readiness to provide leadership for the emerging cross-party alignment.
