In a significant development, Hon. Vitalis Terhile Neji, the Executive Chairman of Kwande Local Government Council, has been elected as the new Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) in Benue State. The announcement came following a critical meeting held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, in Makurdi, where key issues, including the immediate dissolution of the previous leadership, were addressed.

The association resolved to restructure its Executive Committee (EXCO) to ensure equity and fairness in representation, reducing the number of positions to six. Each of the state’s zones will now hold two positions. This move aims to enhance governance and inclusivity within the local government framework.
