Government Secondary School (GSS) Gboko has been rated the highest among institutions assessed under the Benue State Government’s Schools Identification and Takeover Initiative Program. This announcement came during a visit by the Honourable Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Dr. (Mrs.) Margaret Ijaguwa Adanu, represented by Permanent Secretary Mrs. Helen Nambativ Zuamo, on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
The commissioner commended the school’s management, staff, and students for meeting all required standards, assuring them of continued government support through the initiative. Program consultant, Arch. Gideon Agber, revealed that new projects—including a perimeter fence, modern gates, sports facilities, administrative blocks, and hostels—will soon commence at GSS Gboko and other identified schools, with completion expected within a year. He emphasized that the initiative is designed to enhance education quality and improve the welfare of both staff and students.
In his remarks, the Principal of GSS Gboko, Mr. Sase, expressed appreciation for the recognition and appealed for additional interventions in infrastructure, electricity supply, student accommodation, and healthcare. The commissioner’s delegation also acknowledged the literary work of Miss Favour China Jiji, a young Benue author, directing that her book be reviewed for possible official support.
This development marks a significant step forward in the state’s efforts to elevate educational standards and support its schools.
