Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, presented an ultra-modern electronic wheelchair to Mr. David Aondofa, the Special Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the North Central Zone.
The gesture, aimed at enhancing Mr. Aondofa’s mobility and supporting his active contributions to the party, took place at the Benue State Government House in Makurdi. Governor Alia was represented at the event by his Principal Private Secretary, Dr. Emmanuel Chenge.
While presenting the wheelchair, Dr. Chenge stated that the procurement of the equipment demonstrates Governor Alia’s commitment to inclusiveness, welfare, and support for individuals serving in key leadership positions within the party structure. He explained that the intervention was designed to ease Mr. Aondofa’s movement and enable him to discharge his responsibilities more effectively across the North Central Zone.
Dr. Chenge further noted that Governor Alia remains committed to policies and interventions that improve the wellbeing of citizens, especially persons living with disabilities, while encouraging their active participation in governance and political engagement.
In response, Mr. David Aondofa expressed profound appreciation to Governor Alia for the thoughtful and timely intervention. He highlighted that the electronic wheelchair would significantly reduce the physical strain associated with operating a manual wheelchair and greatly improve his daily productivity and mobility.
The APC North Central Special Leader commended the governor for his compassion and inclusive leadership style, describing the gesture as impactful and deeply encouraging.
Mr. Aondofa is a known entrepreneur involved in the production of shoes and other leather products, through which he sustains his livelihood and contributes to local enterprise development.
The presentation has been widely viewed as a demonstration of Governor Alia’s support for party leaders and his dedication to promoting the welfare of persons with disabilities in the state.
