In a practical move to strengthen grassroots security, the Executive Chairman of Gboko Local Government Council, Hon. Barr. Torseer Yina, has handed over three brand-new motorcycles to his Senior Special Assistants on Security Matters and Peace and Conflict Resolution.

The donation, made on Thursday 4th December 2025, is aimed at boosting the mobility of the council’s frontline security team as they patrol crime-prone areas, gather intelligence, and respond quickly to distress calls across Gboko and its environs.

Receiving the motorcycles on behalf of the security team, Senior Special Assistant on Security Matters Comrade Amudee Alamngbe and his counterpart Comrade DekeraVergwa thanked the chairman for the gesture, describing it as a clear demonstration of political will to tackle insecurity head-on.

The council boss charged the aides to ride into every ward and village, work closely with vigilante groups, traditional rulers, and conventional security agencies, and ensure that criminals have no hiding place in Gboko. “Your job is not just to react but to prevent,” Hon. Yina told them. “Peace and security remain the foundation of everything we want to achieve in this local government.”

The Senior Special Assistant on Peace and Conflict Resolution, Hon. Aliyu Nomshu, who also benefited from the donation, promised that the motorcycles will be deployed immediately and used diligently to serve the people.

Residents of Gboko have welcomed the initiative, with many saying it is the kind of hands-on support local security operatives desperately need to cover the vast rural communities where criminals often operate freely.

Coming barely a week after Governor Hyacinth Alia renewed his call for state police, the Gboko chairman’s action is being seen as another strong signal that leaders at all levels in Benue are no longer waiting for federal solutions alone, but are taking concrete steps within their powers to protect lives and property.

For a local government that has witnessed its own share of banditry and communal clashes, three motorcycles may seem modest, but in the eyes of many, it is a timely reminder that every little effort counts in the collective battle to restore peace.
