The ancient city of Gboko is already buzzing with excitement ahead of Saturday, 13th December 2025, when the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Majesty Orcivirigh Prof. James Ayatse, will confer prestigious traditional titles on some of Benue’s most outstanding sons and daughters.
Topping the list of honourees is renowned medical icon and immediate past Chief Medical Director of Benue State University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Abraham Orkurgu Malu, who will be recognised for his decades of exemplary leadership and monumental contributions to healthcare development in the state. His wife, Dr. Keziah Malu, a respected physician and community advocate, will also receive a title in appreciation of her humanitarian service.
Also on the roll of honour is the current CMD of BSUTH, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande, whose transformative tenure has seen unprecedented reforms, infrastructural upgrades, and improved service delivery at the teaching hospital. His wife, Mrs. Erdoo Hwande, will be similarly honoured for her quiet but impactful support and philanthropy.
The colourful ceremony, to be held at the Tor Tiv’s palace, is expected to attract a mammoth crowd of traditional rulers, political heavyweights, clergy, academia, and Tiv sons and daughters from far and wide.
Organisers say the event is more than a title conferment; it is a deliberate celebration of excellence, hard work, and selfless service to Tivland and humanity, sending a strong message that the Tiv Traditional Council under Prof. Ayatse rewards merit and integrity above every other consideration.
As preparations reach fever pitch in Gboko, the twin recognition of the Malus and the Hwandes (two families that have collectively touched thousands of lives through medicine) is already being hailed as one of the most deserving chieftaincy investments in recent Tiv history.
December 13 promises to be a day of pride, culture, and celebration in the heart of Tivland.
