Deputy Governor Dr. Sam Ode Represents Governor Alia at 2026 Workers’ Day Celebration in Makurdi

The Benue State Government on Wednesday joined workers across the state to commemorate the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration at IBB Square in Makurdi.

Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia was represented at the event by his Deputy, Dr. Sam Ode MN, who led the state delegation in celebrating with Benue workers.

The colourful event saw a large turnout of civil servants and other workers, many dressed in vibrant matching Ankara attire and caps. Dr. Sam Ode was seen interacting warmly with the workers and dignitaries present, including a moment captured with a female attendee.

The celebration, which is observed annually on May 1st to honour the contributions of workers to nation-building, provided an opportunity for the state government to engage directly with the labour force.

Photos from the event, captured by Wiz Wizzy Wisdom of the Government House Makurdi, showed the Deputy Governor and other top officials in high spirits as they mingled with the crowd under canopies at IBB Square.

This year’s Workers’ Day celebration comes at a time when Benue workers continue to play critical roles in the socio-economic development of the state despite various challenges.

The event is expected to boost morale among the workforce as the state government reiterates its commitment to the welfare of Benue workers.
