The remains of 30-year-old interior designer Deborah Eneyi Ohekuru Okwori, popularly known as Deb’rah Porsche, have been transported from Lagos to Benue State for burial following her shocking murder last week. The young designer’s untimely death has left her family, friends, and community in mourning, with calls for justice growing louder.
A service of songs was held on Sunday, September 21, in Ayetoro, Ogun State, to honor Deborah’s memory. Her body departed the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital mortuary on Tuesday, September 23, with interment scheduled for Wednesday, September 24, at Ugaga Ohuhu Owo in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
Police have confirmed that a male suspect—believed to be her former boyfriend—has been remanded at Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos. Authorities allege the suspect disguised himself as a dispatch rider to gain entry into her estate before fatally stabbing her. The arrest has sparked outrage, with rights advocates and relatives demanding a thorough investigation and swift justice to ensure her death is not left unanswered.
Deborah, who had just completed her National Youth Service Corps programme, was building her interior design brand and was described by her family as vibrant, hardworking, and full of promise. Her loss has deeply affected those who knew her, with many expressing hope that the ongoing probe will bring closure to this tragic case.
