Comrade Alancha, appearing on Idoma Television’s programme #TheConversation, has spoken positively about the performance of Benue State Governor Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia in Benue South, saying his earlier scepticism has given way to clear appreciation of the administration’s work.
In one of his remarks, Alancha stated that the people of Otukpa “used to bathe with palm wine” until Governor Alia provided them with water. He also said he had been “blinded by political glaucoma” into believing that the Governor was doing nothing in Benue South, but that he could now see clearly that the administration was performing well.
Alancha further claimed that people had lied to residents of the area by saying the Governor was inactive in Benue South, until he saw the developments for himself. He predicted that Zone C would vote overwhelmingly for Governor Alia in 2027.
The comments were aired in live posts by Idoma Television on Saturday evening and reflect one local voice’s public assessment of the state government’s impact in the southern senatorial district. As of the time of reporting, there had been no official response from the state government or other political actors to the statements.
