The management of the Benue Investment and Property Company (BIPC) has strongly condemned what it described as an attempted act of vandalism and disruption at its Bread Factory in Gboko, following an incident involving the driver of a prominent political figure.
In a press release issued on Thursday, BIPIC stated that one “Capoon,” identified as the driver of former Speaker Rt. Hon. Aomdona Dajo, allegedly stormed the factory premises in a manner perceived as an attempt to interfere with and disrupt normal operations.
The company emphasised that all its businesses, including the Gboko Bread Factory, are state-owned assets established solely to serve the economic interests of the people of Benue State. “Any attempt to vandalise, disrupt, or unlawfully interfere with these investments is a direct attack on the collective patrimony of the state,” the statement read.
BIPIC management confirmed that the matter has been formally reported to the appropriate security agencies and expressed confidence that a thorough investigation will be conducted to identify and bring those found culpable to justice. The company warned that individuals or groups attempting to disrupt state enterprises “will be decisively punished according to the law.”
The release called on political actors, their supporters, and members of the public to exercise restraint and respect public property. It reiterated BIPIC’s commitment to operating strictly within the law while contributing to job creation, food security, and broader economic development across Benue.
Management assured staff, customers, partners, and residents of Gboko that operations at the bread factory remain uninterrupted and that adequate security measures are in place to protect the facility.
BIPIC urged the people of Gboko and surrounding communities to remain calm and continue supporting state-owned enterprises, which it said are designed to deliver benefits to all residents of the state.
The incident has drawn attention amid ongoing discussions about the protection of public assets and the need to prevent politically motivated interference in government investments. No arrests or further details on the alleged perpetrator have been publicly confirmed by security agencies at the time of this report.
