The Benue State Task Force on Illegal Levies and Activities, under the leadership of Hon. Gbenda Terver, has announced a comprehensive ban on several illegal practices across the state.
According to the announcement, there will be no more marching grounds, no more checkpoints, no more illegal market receipts and no more illegal deforestation in Benue State. The ban on irons in Makurdi remains in force. Residents developing land are directed not to pay any chief or youth leader in any city or community within the state. No youth leader is permitted to collect money from marketers, construction sites, companies or any other business.
The task force stated that all 23 Local Government Coordinators and 276 Council Ward Coordinators will continue to enforce these rules. Members of the public are encouraged to report violations, with the reminder that nobody is above the law. Enquiries or reports can be made by calling 07063894788.
The announcement was issued in collaboration with the Benue State Government, the Nigeria Police Force, Benue State Police Command and other stakeholders.
