Benue Assembly Summons LG Commissioner, ALGON Leadership, DGAs and Treasurers

The Benue State House of Assembly has summoned the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the leadership of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Directors-General of Administration (DGAs) and Treasurers to appear before the House on Tuesday, October 13, 2026.

The summons was contained in a statement issued on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Assembly, Michael Zape Upaa. According to the statement, the affected officials are expected to appear before the lawmakers to respond to issues concerning local government administration in the state.

The Assembly warned that failure to honour the invitation could lead to the invocation of its constitutional powers to compel their appearance. The statement partly read: “The Benue State House of Assembly has invited the Hon. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the leadership of ALGON, that of DGAs and Treasurers to appear before it on Tuesday, 13th October, 2026. The House further emphasised that failure to appear, the House will invoke its powers under the Constitution to secure their appearance.”

The development comes as the Assembly continues its oversight activities over local government administration and affairs in the state.
