The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Benue State has rolled out the red carpet for several local government chairmen in the state following their remarkable recognition at the national level.
In a statement issued on 4th December 2025 and signed by the Forum’s Chairman, Senator Barnabas Gemade, and Secretary, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Jime, the elders congratulated the council bosses for bagging prestigious awards at the Nigerian Local Government Development Awards organised by the Senate Committee on States and Local Government Administration.
Leading the pack is the Executive Chairman of Konshisha Local Government, Hon. Moses Terfa Chikyaa, who clinched the highly coveted “Outstanding Local Government Chairman in Nigeria” award. The elders described the feat as a testament to his exceptional leadership and dedication to grassroots development.
Also singled out for loud applause is the Chairman of Kwande Local Government and current ALGON Chairman in Benue State, Hon. Vitalis Neji, recognised for his administrative excellence and unwavering commitment to transforming lives at the grassroots.
Other chairmen who have brought honour to the state include Terkimbi Adzu (Ushongo), Jonathan Modi (Ukum), Joseph Keffi (Makurdi), Nyiakura Adi (Gwer East), Gabriel Adole (Ohimini), Justin Shaku (Katsina-Ala), Barr. Torsser Yina (Gboko), and Victor Ormin (Gwer West).
Senator Gemade, speaking on behalf of the forum, said the awards were “well-deserved” and reflect the confidence that both constituents and the nation at large have in the leadership quality of these chairmen. He urged them to remain steadfast and continue delivering tangible development, stressing that their collective performance is a shining example of the transformative power of effective governance at the third tier.
The elders noted that the national recognition is not just a personal honour for the recipients but a proud moment for the entire APC family in Benue State and a validation of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s deliberate policy of placing competent and performance-driven individuals at the helm of local councils.
As the awards continue to pour in for Benue’s local government helmsmen, the APC Elders Forum promised to keep celebrating excellence while encouraging others to raise the bar of service delivery across the 23 local government areas of the state.
