In a heartfelt gesture of solidarity, a delegation from the Benue State chapter of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), led by Hon. Maurice Orwough, paid a condolence visit to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. The visit took place at the chairman’s residence in Rayfield, Jos, Plateau State, following the recent passing of his mother, Mama Lydia Yilwatda, a week ago.

Hon. Orwough, who serves as the Chairman of Guma Local Government, expressed the delegation’s deep sympathy and support for Prof. Yilwatda and his family during this difficult time. He affirmed the loyalty and backing of Benue ALGON to the leadership of the APC, both at the national level under Prof. Yilwatda and at the state level under Governor Hyacinth Alia.
During the visit, Hon. Orwough assured the National Chairman of the readiness of all local government chairmen in Benue to work closely with him. He prayed that God grant comfort to the Yilwatda family and the strength to bear their irreparable loss.
Prof. Yilwatda, in his response, expressed deep appreciation for the visit and support from the Benue ALGON team. He described himself as a “Benue Boy” and recounted his long association with the state, having relocated there as an undergraduate student in 1986. He lived and achieved much in Benue until 2022, when he moved to Plateau to pursue his gubernatorial ambition. The APC National Chairman thanked the delegation for their solidarity and condolence visit, noting that the family deeply appreciated the gesture.
The visit underscored the strong bonds within the APC and the support network available to its leaders during personal challenges. Photos from the event captured the delegation engaging with Prof. Yilwatda, reflecting a moment of unity and shared grief.
