The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benue State has strongly refuted speculations linking the party to Governor Hyacinth Alia and his administration, labeling such claims as “false, baseless, and the handiwork of political mischief makers.” In a statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Hon. Stevie Ayua, the ADC reiterated its political independence and commitment to offering Benue residents a credible alternative to what it describes as the “failed governance” of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Hon. Ayua highlighted the formation of the Benue State Chapter of the ADC, which was officially unveiled on July 10, 2025, in Makurdi. The launch attracted seasoned politicians, dedicated stakeholders, and passionate youths determined to rescue the state from poor governance. Since its inception, the party has seen a surge in membership registration across both urban and rural areas, reflecting growing public confidence in its mission and vision.

The ADC emphasized its operational independence, noting that its funding and activities are entirely self-sustained through voluntary contributions from committed members and stakeholders. Ayua clarified, “We do not and will not accept contributions from anyone who is not a member of our party for its organization or administration.” The party further denied any alliance, understanding, or secret pact with Governor Alia or the APC, dismissing rumors to the contrary as politically motivated.

In a firm stance, the ADC declared that it is neither a fallback option nor a refuge for politicians who fail to secure tickets in their own parties. “While our doors remain open to all Nigerians who share our values, we will not allow opportunists to exploit our platform for personal or electoral gain,” the statement read. The party urged those spreading such rumors to focus on resolving internal issues within their own parties rather than undermining a movement genuinely dedicated to good governance, transparency, and development.

Concluding the statement, the ADC reaffirmed its “rescue mission” to rebuild Benue and Nigeria through people-centered policies, integrity, and accountability. It rejected any insinuation of ties or collaboration with the APC government in Benue State, asserting its commitment to genuine change and refusing to be distracted by falsehoods.

As the political landscape in Benue continues to evolve, the ADC’s bold declaration signals its intent to carve a distinct path forward, independent of established power structures.
